The permanent exhibition of the Silesia Museum is housed underground, in the former  Katowice coal mine. The exhibition is an attempt at a historical synthesis of Upper Silesia history from the earliest times up to  the year 1989. Successive stages of its history are told using theatre methods  (a play of light and shadow, scenography and set construction,  scene reconstruction, sound) enhanced by  multimedia solutions
